AS A GUARDIAN

She gave her life to fight the beings of hell, and now she will give her soul to continue the battle.

Excerpt:

I stood up and stood in front of him and pulled the tip of the gun and laid it flush with my heart.  “Shoot me.”
            “But…”
“That part that hates me, that part that wants to shoot me will grow larger if you don’t shoot me!”
            “What will happen?”
“The bullet will go through my chest, and overnight I will be dead.  The next night, well, it will be like it never happened, except for the evidence on my shirt.”  I take off my shirt.  “There now there won’t be any evidence but some blood, but that can be cleaned.”
“But…”  Colt just stared at me.  I never wore a bra so I was half naked standing in front of him.
            “SHOOT ME!”
“I can’t…  Part of me wants to but I can’t!”
            “SHOOT ME!”
“No!”  Before I could figure out what had happened he had dropped the gun and grabbed me and pulled me on top of him and he kissed me.
At first I fought the kiss, but he kept kissing me, and he moved his calloused hand up my side to cup my breast, and I gasped.  He took that moment to deepen the kiss.  And I stopped fighting.  I kissed him back.
He laid back and I followed, he rolled me over and I was on my back, I wrapped my legs around him and kissed him with everything I had.  I didn’t even notice the knife until the tip of the silver blade that entered my skin, pierced my heart.  I gasped then I was silent.  Blackness over came over me and when I opened my eyes the demon that loved to torture me was standing over me with a smile on its face.  One day dead on Earth was about a hundred and eighty three days in hell.

Breaking Dawn

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences Just when the frayed strands of Bella’s life – first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse – seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed… forever?

Breaking Dawn left me bored, I could see things coming from a mile away, it was a lot of work to force myself to finish this book. Look okay so it got a semi happy ending. Would it have been so horrible to have a nice fight scene in the book? I don’t think so. Some drama is good, everybody likes drama, and this book should have delivered some in bulk quantity, but it did not. And spoiler here because really…. imprinting on Bella’s kid? Really Jacob? Look love the spin that the male vamp could have kids, and imprinting on a baby! Just it is… I am not going to comment. But she left it open for maybe future writings with the ‘bad guys’ and of course their new life. She did wrap things up nicely. But for me it was hard to read, and really… strange…

Eclipse

Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation approaching, Bella has one more decision to make:life or death. but which is which?

The best part of this book was Jasper’s Story.  Sorry but this girl is Team Jasper all the way, Alice and Jasper are the only vampires in these series of stories that can make me forget the crack the writer was smoking when she made them sparkle.  Jasper is my favorite of the vampires, and Bella still makes me sick to my stomach.  The concessions made by the main characters are very interesting.  I don’t really want to say much because I don’t want to give any spoilers, but Jasper and Alice are the best characters in the series.  Bella, I just want to punch her.

New Moon Book Spoilers

For Bella Swan, there’s only one thing more important to life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may just be beginning. . .

Okay so I said I wasn’t going to do this but I am going though these books really fast, and yes I am giving spoilers… bad Kati, but it is what it is. Okay New Moon Grade 2 and half stars. Why? I like Alice forget the whole sparkly vampire thing Alice is funny again sparkly vampire thing not good, but forgivable this time because of Alice, the werewolves not too far off from many many Native American legends, did some research even the 2 tribes, my ancestors come from had stories similar to the werewolves in this book so I am okay with it,(they should be called just wolves, or shape shifters, but again I can go with werewolf as it means wolf man) but the sparkly vampires can’t find them, found something like them except the sparkle aspect more like sun drains them of their energy so still vampires are not completely forgiven, only Alice is.  Alice can sparkly like diamonds all she wants, I like Alice. But this had an okay plot, I was getting bored with Bella trying to hurt herself but then Alice saves the day with a untrue vision YAY!!! Action in the book, at this point Edward thinks Belle has passed on and wants to die and goes to the royal vampires (many myths have them so okay and many myths have them with powers as well so OK) but still issues with the sparkle thing and come on Belle really you have Jacob being all nice and waiting and you forgive Edward like he did nothing wrong really make him work for it.  You are destroying women’s movement everywhere I turn in this book, if it wasn’t for Roslie and Alice I would have to wonder about the author’s view on women. I like that there is not much with the sparkle going on with this book maybe Eclipse will have a forgivable note but not anticipating it so… we shall see

Twilight

Blurb: Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife-between desire and danger.

maybe   On a Good day….

Okay so I have an issue with Twilight most who know me know I am obsessed with vampires, but don’t know how much, I have read almost every vampire book, research the folklore on them, if I could I would become an expert in vampires, werewolves, and other things… anyways the book and the movie, (yes I finished them back off you can’t review something if you don’t read or watch it, which means you can’t belittle it or burn it!) The movie gets an like zero stars sorry I just can’t give something good grade if they can’t at least somewhat keep to the books main points, they interpreted a lot in the movie, and some scenes may have been better left alone.  Enough said on that, did not like the movie, but others out there did. (I will get to the vampires in a moment calm down). Okay the main thing that gets me (in the book and the movie another reason the movie gets in 0) and why I give the book a a half star is the vampires… no where I mean nowhere… are there vampires who sparkle, I can forgive the fact that they come out in the sun, some very good books and movies allowed them to, and a lot of folklore give it to the pale skin why they can not come out and it diminished their powers, research it if you don’t believe me, I can even forgive the rip off parts from other movies, books, and other media material but what I can’t is that the sun does nothing to them but make them sparkle in this book and movie… can’t stand it, and really the characters in the book a million times better then in the movie, I can almost stand the book, but some part of me can’t get past the who destroying the myth of the vampire thing, I mean I have researched a lot of myths, on creation, on how they live, but come on make them sparkle?  I get you have to put your own spin on the vamp mythology, I mean I do all the time, but…. okay I just really hate sparkly vampires.  I understand the venom part and may have given them a higher star rate if I didn’t hate Bella’s weak character.  She is the main character and she is the weakest.  I am not talking emotional (thought she is), or brute strength (again though she is) I am talking about the character development, there isn’t any.  Bella is this one way, and that is it, and the movie totally ruined Kristen Stewart for me (I loved her in Cake Eaters!  What happened Kristen?  Really is it drugs, or Rob Patterson what ever it is go back to how you were in Cake Eaters!) Vampires should have a fear factor about them, and the sparkle thing just wants to make me laugh at the stupid stupid vampire… vampires should as I said have some fear factor about them, not that they can’t be funny, but really how can you fear that? Other than that if you take out that stupid part, the story line is the basic for most recent vampire loves a human story line, with a few complications, like come on, you say you love this girl but you don’t want to be with her forever?????? Turn her end of story, anyways as a pro I guess you could say the story line does seem to flow with a few key action parts, so if you can forget about the rip off parts, and the sparkle factor you may have a couple of hours of entertainment, but don’t buy in hardcover, spend the 7 on the paper back if you want to buy, other than that check it out at the library or borrow a copy! Also I will not grade or write about New Moon until after the movie comes out, I will do both the movie and book at the same time for this again, please do no take offense but I have strong opinions and they are going to get on peoples’ nerves.  And I know people love this movie, and this book.  I may not agree with them, but I can make an effort to understand them, and listen to their side of the story.
