Nourish

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

I read the label: Nourish the skin.

I snort.

No matter what I do my skin is dry.

A life time of sun had done its damage.
I sigh and put the lotion with SPF in the cart.

My alarm goes off.

‘Chemo Appt.’

I must go.

For I must be treated for the damaged the sun had given me.

Petrify

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

The smirk could petrify his victims.

He wiped blood from his blade.

Moving from one victim to the next.

His victim asked a question.

“What does it feel like to kill without remorse?”

He gave that smirk and licked his fingers and looked him in the eye.

“Tastes like God.”

Defy

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

I hid behind a mask of conformity.

I obeyed.

I was ‘good’.

I was killing my soul.

A moment of rebellion.

I defy convention.

I ripped off the mask.

Not going to conform.

I now take my own path.

The ups & downs my own.

My soul free.

I now live my life the way it should be.

Decoy

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

The hunter knew they put out a decoy.

He had watched them.

He smirked.

He was up for the challenge.
He wasn’t going to hunt tonight…

But they gave him such a pretty gift.

He made his way over to grab his prey.

There was a bang.

Silence.

Shock.

Silence…

Eclipse

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

I allowed his wishes to eclipse my soul.

My light was blocked.

When my light tried to peak through, it was shattered by the darkness.

One day I had enough.

I made my light push through.

Blinding him in surprise.

I found my light.

Nobody will eclipse my soul once more.

Gloom

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

I look out my window.

The wintery gloom sticks to everything.

So recently the colors of fall were vibrant.

The summer heat had just cooled.

I know soon the budding of spring will happen.

But the gloom of winter settles deep into the soul.

Clouding the dawn of spring.

Ignite

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

The ball diamond does fireworks.

As a child we watched them ignite.

Played with the children that came out to play.

Now we listen for the booms.

The game is over.

When the cemetary comes alive.

The ghosts tell stories of their lives.

And the children come out to play.

Comfort

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

I found comfort in routine.

Then my world shattered.

One of the stars in my life was gone.

My orbit thrown.

Heard words of sympathy.

They offered no true comfort.

My life changed.

For years I chased numbness.

Until one night I got true comfort.

I could finally breathe.

You were supposed to heal all

Coincidence

Twitter VSS365 Prompt

All Rights Reserved

It had to be a coincidence.

No way did they play with a spirit board and a demon came through.

A child’s game.

But the eyes.

Red as blood.

Our friend was no longer human.

I locked eyes with the demon.

Within the eyes I saw hell.

Within the eyes I saw my damnation…
