Bare

I look into the mirror
What I see isn’t real
What my eyes see is a mask
A projection that I have cast
The end of my play is near
To the sword blade I must kneel
The lies I tell all who ask
The truths coming out at last
My true self is becoming clear
The mask is breaking like rusted steel
I have been taken to task
Now laid bare is my past
I look in the cracked mirror
I see what is now real
My eyes see the busted mask
And the end to the projection I had cast
